“So He Can Walk Again”: Haris’s Journey From Gaza to Healing
A Childhood Interrupted by War
Ten-year-old Haris grew up in Gaza, a bright, gentle boy who loved exploring his home and playing like any other child. But life changed forever when he was injured inside his own house during the bombardment. The blast caused a severe back injury resulting in paralysis.
Now displaced in Egypt, Haris urgently needs intensive physiotherapy to walk again, marking the next critical step in his journey from Gaza to healing. Without this essential daily physiotherapy, his condition will worsen.
But after fleeing to Egypt with his mother, all treatment suddenly stopped.
They arrived safe
Without care
Without support
Without courage
“My only wish is for him to walk normally like all the other children.” – Haris’s mother
Doctors have told Haris’s mother that he needs three hours of physiotherapy every day for 2–3 years just to have a chance at walking independently again.
But such treatment is impossibly expensive for a displaced family who has already lost everything.
Right now, Haris receives no physiotherapy at all.
Without intervention, he risks long-term muscle deterioration, reduced mobility, chronic pain, and the loss of any chance of walking again.

What the Medical Report Says
Haris suffers from weakness in his lower limbs, muscle atrophy, and significant difficulty moving due to partial paralysis. He urgently requires regular, intensive physiotherapy sessions, including the use of electrical stimulation machines and targeted therapeutic exercises. In addition, he needs a Ground Reaction Ankle-Foot Orthosis (GRAFO) brace, costing 8,000–10,000 EGP, which is essential to help him stand and walk. Without these supports, his condition is at serious risk of worsening.
How Goodwill Caravan Is Stepping In

This work is only possible because of Help’s belief in protecting vulnerable children and restoring their dignity after trauma. We thank Help deeply for making this life-saving intervention possible.
